Jerry came over from the valley this morning for a little mixed bag fishing. For you that don't know him, Jerry is the trolling king who used to catch all those large white crappies trolling the creeks. Usually with his dog Jake or wife Coco for company. I have been trying to convert him the last couple of years to dock shooting.
We started fishing some weed edges for bass. Jerry's tacke boxes are a trip down memory lane, daredevil spoons, cicada blade baits, mepps spinners, lucky 13 plugs, loves jitterbug baits, it is like going back in time 50 years, lol. They all catch fish though and are a new look to bass today. We didn't get any action on our first stop so decided to try some docks for crappie. We picked up a few good fish, the odd sm bass, but never really got a good bite going.
Moved around some picking up a few more decent crappie but again no stong sustained bite. Tried another stop for bass when marked a lot of fish and dropped a jigging spoon on them, no takers. Tried some worms on weed edges with no luck. Headed up river and hit a few more crappie spots. Ran into
Wolftever Kid stopped and eating his lunch. He had been having a better day than us with the crappie, which is what he usually does. He did look a little lonley without Candi in the boat , but she called while we were there. They may have had a little spat and she got left at home. emoPoke The Kid is serious about his crappie fishing and doesn't mess around.
After hitting a couple more crappie spots and picking up a few more fish we decided to head in and call it a morning. On the way downriver I decided to stop at a favorite bass spot and see if I could call up some topwater action at midday. About the 5th cast I had a taker, and a couple of casts later had another with other bass chasing the hooked one. Jerry soon got into the action and then they exploded all around us. Seems we had "called them up" with our casting action. We hooked a few, and missed a few. Lot's of fun. Hard to beat topwater bass action.
Came in about 1:00 feeling we had a good morning fishing together. Nice weather, cooling breeze, a few nice crappie and some fun bass action. A good time was had by all.

PS: Have you seen the landslide at the big house across from the nuke. Seawall, pool, yard all in the lake, right up to the edge of the house. Some big bucks to get that fixed.
