Got an early start this morning and fished in dallas bay under the birds. Caught 4 really nice White Bass and about a 3# LM bass. All caught on A-rig fished near the bottom. Lots of bait, but no rockfish that I could find.
After about an hour I moved to winter fishing spot # 2.
Saw some birds circling, but not really diving on bait fish. Then boom the Lowrance was full of large arches and stacked fish. Had a big hard hit on first cast, followed by heavy strong run when she felt the hook. Was in open water so no worries about obstructions. Just keep the rod bent let it wear the fish down. 23# Striper / Rockfish. Great start, and I knew there were more right below the boat. Wind was strong and as the boat drifted during the fight, even more large fish arches showed on the screen.
Decided to slow troll back the the original marked area. Had another strong hit about halfway to original marked spot. Strong run so sure was another Striper. 19.5# what great fun. I texted some pics to my neighbor Chris who I have been fishing with some lately. He caught his first TN Striper last Friday. He was too busy to come along today.
Hooked 2 more Rockfish, one at 11# and one I lost at the boat when jig hook straighted out. It looked to be in the 15-18 range. Every fish hooked on A-Rig fished near the bottom. Also caught 4 more big fat white bass later.
Will try the pic thing again. Regards, Norman
No joy, I resized in phone, but it loads the orginals will try to have some else post them for me. Know a good resizer app for windows 10 computer. The one I had 5 years ago won't work with 10
