Went out for a few hours this morning to the Lafayette Lake. Fished the lower end of the lake around blowdowns and rocks. Caught 1 fish on a chatterbait in 8ft of water. Water temp was 61 degree in the southern half. The one i did manage was a good Spotted Bass. I have heard of some in there but didnt think they got this size. She faught like a freight train...

I bet you caught her in that tree a little to the left? We call it Dr Shaws tree. He lives behind it. He told me he is the one that cut it down.

Actually I caught it near the red clay bank with the cedars on it. Just past the little pocket. The wind was blowung me into the bank so i had to put her in the livewell till i could get a pic

(The spot in that pic is not where i caught it.....MMMOOOOHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!)

I see you know the local tricks. When I'm headed to weigh in I like to tie on lures from my tackle box that couldn't catch a brush pile, much less something with scales on it.emoLaugh

I am wanting to get out and fish the lake, but it seems like it will have to put off for another weekend. Oh well. LOL

If you know where Hwy. 27 is, take it to Lafayette. You will turn to take the bypass, which will be a left turn coming from TN, or just going straight from Trion/Summerville area. If you come from Lafayette, go down about 3/4 of a mile, and make a left. Not sure the name of the road, but it's at the red light. You will pass Lafayette High School on the left..............go just past the ROTC field, and look for a dirt road. Make a left.

If you are coming from the South, continue on 27, instead of going through downtown Lafayette. Go past Hwy. 136, at the light, and go for another 1/4 mile. Go to the next light, make a right, go past the HS, past the ROTC field, and make the left.

The lake is at the end of the road. The ramp is very shallow, so be careful when loading/unloading the boat.
