Lakemaster at Watts Bar

I noticed Saturday that my lakemaster mapping was not even remotely close on watts bar. On chick it is pretty much spot on but yesterday I noticed it was off more than 30' feet deep in some areas of watts bar. It was impossible to navigate with it. I went into one area and the map showed the lake ending in a cove but when I got there the lake went for what looked like a mile further back.

The depth was 29' on my sonar but the map showed it 14'. When I offset the lake level to match of course the rest of the lake showed up. Then when I moved a hundred yards the map said it was 16' deep but my sonar said 2' deep. I thought that maybe that area had been dredged or something but it was all jacked up all over the place

Needless to say... I didn't trust running anywhere on the lake but between the navigational buoys.

Anyone else ever noticed this?

Yeap. When I fish watts bar I run my navionics card. Chick I use lake master. Alot of the lake has no mapping at all with lake master. I prefer the lake master mapping. I have ran into areas on Nick that is the same way. I just keep both cards.

Suppose to be a lakemaster card for watts bar out now or coming

Hopefully its on version 5 when it comes out, which should be soon. Although I don't like the idea of having to buy a new card

Ya... I just bought V4 a couple of weeks ago because I had a TM at Tim's Ford and it was not on V3. V4 is supposed to add several new lakes and hopefully and HD Watts Bar. Last I heard was summer...

Which version Navionics card has Watts Bar? Maybe I will try to find a used one for now.

I don't know which navionics cards I have. But I know one of them is old. So old it doesn't have a mini. Just the big card and haven't had any issue with them not showing up like I have with the lake master on watts bar. My lake master is v4. But it doesn't have alot there.

porthos33 - 3/19/2018 2:11 PMI heard March 9th that it would be out in 1 week. You can buy it at chart select.
You can what Watts Bar on chart select? I have never owned a navionics product... how does that work?

I was told you would be able to buy just lakemaster card that only has watts bar on it for like 35.00,,,don't hold me to that, just what I was told

Looks like this is true...

chartselect.humminbird.com

It's $30 for the Watts Bar HD contours. I wonder why it's $30 and Chickamauga is only $10.

Yeah basically all you have to do is download it to your own memory card instead of having to buy a new map card every year. Watts bar is probably more b/c it is newer. I don't know for sure. Let us know how Jeff did scanning Watts Bar in Hd Greg when you get it

I got it but haven't tried it yet. You don't have to have an SD card if you download the humminbird app. It syncs to your head unit and transfers the map. Cool...

I took at look at the map and compared it to the old map and it looks much better.

Does it sync over wifi or something?

I am attempting to post a pic of the old map and the HD map in an area I tried to fish last week. You can see the huge difference.

Oh... I pulled up on the upper right side of that island thinking it was going to be about 6 to 8 foot deep.... when I stopped it was like 35' deep. I was scratching my head.

Also...I mis-spoke. It doesn't really sync... it is a file transfer over Bluetooth. Depending on which unit you have it will write to the HDD on the head unit. Only works on Solox and Helix gn2 units. You still have to buy a copy for each head unit.

Great info. Glad you told us about that app. Looks like I can use it in place of the Navionics app I've been using for more precision especially when I'm in someone else's boat. I just need to figure out if I can get the data off my map card onto my phone.
