Re: Lane Dresser and Armoire

Beautiful pieces. But I'm sorry to burst your bubble and I don't want to PO anyone, but they are not solid wood. Lane hasn't made anything that I am aware of from solids in over 30 years. See the cross grains of wood around the door fronts? See the patterns on the armoire and dresser fronts. No tree grows like that. It's probably on the tops too. Nothing wrong with that. Actually it's a more expensive process that using solids. Most people don't know that. They think that solid wood is the thing. Not so. The most expensive manufactures in the furniture industry don't use solid wood. I was the GM and buyer for a large, multi million dollar furniture retailer here in the Southeast for 16 years. I know. Ialso have Lane Furniture in my home right now. But it's not solid wood. Now with that being said, that's a very, very good price! It looks to be a light mahogany wood of some sort and that's a beveled edged mirror too! emoThumbsup

Re: Lane Dresser and Armoire

Elwestb,

I appreciate the information. I am not a furniture or wood expert but was making the statement "solid wood" based on the weight of the furniture, observations of the shelves, drawers, etc. and weight. It is not like a lot of cheap furniture that I have seen that uses particle board or some light weight composite. I wasn't aware of the door fronts and tops. I will edit this post to reflect the education you have provided. Thanks again.

Re: Lane Dresser and Armoire

You need to put the measurements on there too so people can see if it will fit into their room. Those are pretty and again, a great price! Just to venture a guess I would say that those pieces would retail for over $2000.00 maybe $2500.00?
