Lanier Pre-fishing 2/8/2007

Got to Lanier Wednesday w/ friend Adam Postelle to pre-fish for the first S&K sporting goods tournament we have coming up this weekend. We were out from 8-3. Fishing was tough as expected and trash fishing seemed to be the best technique, just throw everything at them and hope to get bit on something LOL! We ended up w/ 7 COLD keeper spots best 5 weighed 10-11 pounds..... We focused most of our time between Browns Bridge and the Little Haul Bridge we used everything from drop-shots to deep cranking to catch fish but the most consistent bite seemed to be skipping docks w/ jig-head finesse worms. We've got our fingers crossed for this one, times like this make me thankful that I'm not fishing to pay bills LOL.

In those S&K tx's, how many boats usually show up?

T4 most of the time we have between 35-40 boats very rarely do we have under 30 @ any event. It IS THE TOUGHEST trail in our area, atleast that I've fished.

whats the entry fee? usual payouts? how many tx's per year? which lakes do they usually fish?

What kinda weights does it take to get in the money?

$100.00 a boat/ once a year $50.00 membership/classic fee. Tournaments are Feb-Oct, PAYOUT based on boats but pays 1 place for every 8 boats so usually 3 places for sure sometimes 4 and big fish comes out of the $100.00 at 10 per boat.(ie 30 boats-BF $300.00) Must join and sign up for Tx's at S&K Sporting Goods in Chatsworth GA. I talked to you 2jigs at Weiss Last year I had the new Skeeter at JR'S...Weights usually up there, Alot of guys that fish are from about 5 different clubs in the area and most have been to state and regional tournaments...but you guys know how fishing is...ANYBODY"S game...Come have fun and fish the S&K Tx's...Also the trail is a certified on the Skeeter Real Money Program....Means more $$$$$ for Skeeter owners if you win....hope this helps out....

Those are beautiful spots. The size of those Lanier spots always amaze me. They fight hard too.

Great spots fishing down there. I use to live on that lanier in the summers. Uncle has lakefront home near browns bridge.
