Sunday was the last day of the season for the Tennessee area and it has been an interesting one at that. I started well before daylight hiking the side of this ridge, found my lucky tree I saw deer in last time and started to climb. I stopped about thirty feet off the ground, got all my gear up, and began my wait. I had planned on hunting from daylight to dark, I wanted the best chances I could have on killing my first deer on the Chickamuaga Lake until this happened. I've always heard dogs barking far off from where I was hunting and never thought much about it until Sunday when they sounded like they were moving in the woods. I followed the sound of their bark from the other ridge as they went from my right to my left and I thought surely not. I waited and waited and here they came. They had found my scent from where I came in at and followed it right to my tree stand even though I had washed my boots off in the lake before I started hiking. I was treed at 14:45 needless to say my hunt was over so I climbed down gave them a pat on the head and started my hike back to the boat. Even though I didn't kill a deer this year, there is more hunting season to come and as they always say there is always next year.
