We didn't get on the water until 2 or so and with limited fishing time we decided to make a bee-line for Gunstocker in search of jumps. Found the spots schooling on flats to the left of the creek channel and started flinging spinnerbaits. Then rattletraps. Then jerkbaits. Then grubs. After half an hour of occasional hits and no takers, I dug deep in the bottom tray through my collection of the lures that caught me but never a fish. I tied on a Mann's Baby 4- in a gray shad pattern and never put it down for the rest of the day. My father-in-law had three of the Baby 1- that I had given him last year and the black/silver one was nearly as effective as mine. In a prior thread about lures that waste space in the tacklebox, I had listed the Mann's Baby series for my choice. I'd like to officially recant that statement .
