I will say I should of made a post about two weeks ago but I have not been able to get my pictures ( from the camera to the computer) and didn't want to post without the photos have them downloaded and have sent them to TT to resize. If she gets an opportunity to fix them , they will be added. Thanks TT!!!
I was fishing the usual place (Wolf Tever) a couple weeks ago and I had not caught much of anything but the bait fish was stacked tight, so I kept working different depths and trying to entice a couple of Crappie to bite. I made a rather long cast and was counting ....1 one thousand, 2 one thousand bam.. I got NAILED. I set the hook with my ultra light and 4lb. test (fluorescent stren..... which will soon be BPS YELLOW!!) None the less, I set the hook and up came a flash of Brown.......Monster Smallmouth (I mean World Record), I fought that thing and after about 10min. I started doubting the Brown Flash and thought it's got to be a big Blue or a Drum. The Brown Flash stayed in my thoughts and hopes for the entire 47min. I fought this fish! After about 47min. and many runs I won the battle and I was shocked as I saw this Brown Fish for the first time up and personel!emoEek emoEek Indeed I did see Brown and it was Big! The bad thing was .......it was a 28-30lb Flathead. I took it home and made some pictures and was going to fillet it out but decided to give the beast an opportunity to live. I took it over to Savannah Bay to see if it would swim away and indeed it acted like it had never been out of the water. That is about the only story I have in all my banking endeavors of late. I believe if I could get the pictures posted, I might get into that "HALL OF FAME". hint hint None the less it was a great battle on 4 lb test line.

JSV, this is definitely a HOF catch...I'll add it when I see the pic. Congrats!!! emoThumbsup

When you told me this story the other day at Skeeters parking lot sale I thought it was amazing a flathead could live that long out of water.

Wonder what the line class record is for a flathead on 4lb line??? That's quite an accomplishment! I think even more so if you were bank fishing since you can only chase a fish so far from the bank...

Indeed it was exciting and I was very close to getting spooled on two different accounts. The bad thing was....I had respooled my reel with 4lb Fluorescent stren. I didn't take all the old line off which was 4lb. stren but it was the green colored line. (I used the green while Trout fishing in the summer). Twice during the 47min. battle the fish had spooled me out past where I had retied. Fortunately the knot held and I was able to turn the fish and land it.
I have no idea what the record is for 4lb and Flatheads. I thought about that prior to releasing it but I figured it wouldn't make the record book. I took it home so my Daughter could see it and to take a few pictures then I set him free.
Now when I come home with these little 10 to 11inch Crappie my 3 1/2 year old girl claims they are little (baby) fish.

The record for 4lb test is over 50 lb for flatheads, that's why I'm going for the 2lb record of 33lb. I've never been around where a 50+bler might be but I know where 30+lbers live.

JSV, it may not be a world's record but a heckofan accomplishment...congrats. can't wait to see the monster...

JSV- I bet you had a whale of a time. Just got about a 20Lb. drum this morning in the CFF. Boy for a min. I don't think BBass or myself took a breath. A fish like that makes you come back again & again

Great job JSV bet that was a blast. Trips like that is what helps us go out on the water when its 18 degrees. Congrats!

Nice fish there JSV I enjoied reading the post, and i'm like TT that was a good catch on 4lb line. its hard to belive a 33 on 2 lb. that would be a battle, wishing polo luck on his venture. nice picture also, but he would not have been so hard to hold up back in your wrestling days at hixson jr high or McCallie. good catch and good post.
