A Tn politician was listening to some of his constituants one fine day when they were complaining about all the traffic on Sundays.
All those people with boats are getting in the way of all us God fearing people trying to get to church on time.Why they take up the lines at the gas stations, grocery stores, turn lanes and half of'um's blinkers on the boat trailers don't work or they blink the wrong way. They cause wrecks, their bearings are greaseless and they have trailers parked on the side of roads, not to mention life jackets & collers blowing all over 4 lanes of traffic. Can't you do something about that problem Senator Nutt?
Why yes, I think I can said Sen Nutt.
Nutt got several of his left wing buddies to the side at the Capital Building and they formed a "forum".
They decided to pass a law that prohits fishing and boating on Sunday.
The God fearing poeple thought this was a great idea, that way the roads would be empty and after church, no problem getting to the Golden Corral, even though some boaters/fishermen do go to church and eat out with family.And then there are those who eat out on Sunday and pretend they were at church.And some even go as far to pull a boat around all day just to show off.
The law was hashed out and sent to the governor to be signed;;;
Wait said the Seventh Day Adventist,,we celebrate Saturday and Sunday is our day of work/play.
You can't do that said the ACLU, it's against the law to make a law for/against religon.
The boaters complained; we work 2 jobs, 6 days a week to support our families and our recreation,and Sunday is our only day we have to go to the lake.
Sen Nutt pondered and came up with a marvelous idea to save face and still get his district votes.
I'll do away with Sunday. Change all the callendars, No more Sunday and name it Doday.
The law gets passed and everyone is happy, except for the God fearing church goers who decide to buy boats & trucks and SUV's to pull them with and buy bait, tackle, equipment and go to the lake on Doday.
The economy booms , jobs are created and Senator Nutt takes all the glory.
Any sensible fisherman knows never go to the lake on Doday.
And that's how laws work.
