Has anyone used a laydown boat around here. I am gettin a 2 person laydown this week and can't wait to shoot some divers on cherokee. Anyone have any input on them?!

Still have one, its just not in this state, didnt take it when I moved but it will be here next year. Its a neat experience to say the least. Hunted lake Ontario's eastern end for years, shot a bunch of Bluebills, buffs, goldeneyes, you name it. We also shot a bunch of mallards and some geese out of them as well We use to tow it out with our boat blind and take turns gunning out of it in open water. Its amazing how close the Ducks will get to it when they run the deeks. Most shots were close if you have your spread right. The only thing that was a little dangerous was getting in and out of it when switching hunters. I always wore the floatation camo jackets when I hunted out of mine. We always set up over big open water expanses of water were the ducks traded back and forth and out gunned the shore bound guys hands down. Good luck let us know

I think a laydown is different from a layout skull boat, although with some laydowns you might able to skull effectively? A friend of mine has a skull boat and actually does guide trips down on Guntersville Reservoir in Northeast Alabama.

With lots of public pressure, ducks tend to raft up out in open water. On the right day... cloudy with a little chop on the water... he has some great hunts.
