i am thinking about trying a lews again.what model is good?i tried one of the cheaper ones when they came back out and is was junk. thanks

I had seven of the Lew's tournament pros. Every one of them was great for a month and then they all started casting terrible. Lost about 20-30% of their original casting distance.

i have two of those rod but i think i ended up with them after they were just wore out.GA the one i had i bought off eBay it was new but i hated it.it was something S1H.

I don't know what u consider junk but the Speed spool for 99 bucks is one of the best reels out. Been good since they came out

This is what I started using - the $99 model and they are great!

Picked up a ts1sm tournament mg 7.1:1 a year ago and quickly became my favorite reel. Plenty of power, love the drag, and can cast a mile. Knock on wood. And the black is just cool

I agree with Sam I have the $80 and the $99 Speed Spool in a 7:1 ratio. had them both about a year and have never had a problem out of either one of them, would definitely recommend them.

Ibought two of those Lews you had, they didn't cast very far like you said,a little oiling and greasing got them going again for me. </p>

Of course just an opinion.....I own 2 of these as well and love them. I did have one of them that had a little problem, took it apart (buddy of mine did)lol. ... oiled and put back together.....wow, just like new. Threw my tournament pro on braid and the rig this year and did just fine. Good reels, have sold a ton of them. Good luck

I have three lazer mg and three of the 99 dollar ones love them all but I will say the composite frame of the lazer mg models flex a lot when reeling in fish that's just my opinion.
