Yesterday, after procrastinating for eleven months, I finally linked both of my Helix 10 SI's with the ethernet cable/dongles that my wife got me for Christmas last year. Both units have Lakemaster cards installed but if I'm reading correctly, only one unit needs the card for both units to utilize the mapping features of one card.

Is that true? I was going to Chickamauga this morning to find out but the rain/wind put a stop to that idea. Any other useful features from both units being linked?

Thanks,
Bill

agreed. my helix 9's do not share mapping. they are linked and I have cards in each unit.

For sure they will not link the mapping, so keep with cards. Works great if you need to just run off one transducer. I busted one of my transducers a while back and I'm just running off the back one on both units.

Ive been having issues with my front transducer not communicating with the unit and got to looking at it and i damaged the wire near the foot somehow - its not sheared, just nicked. I guess thats all it takes to make the transducer not read.

If you nicked the shielding on the cable its certainly enough to cause issues. Especially with the RF from the trolling motor

Yep. that equals a new transducer i guess.?

That is the one drawback of Humminbird. They do not allow their machines to share map data other than waypoints, routes, etc. I have to run 2 map cards as well.
