I remember reading several post on the subject of, "lip grippers for cats", but, now I can't seem to find the old post. I would like to have a good gripper to hold a big cat, if'n I was to ever catch one. I know there must be some pretty good ones out there," that don't cost an arm and a leg". I really don't know which is the best for the money. I can find them on line, but the descriptions are a bit vague. It is difficult to tell what size fish (max) they are designed to hold. Does anyone have any ideals? Tony:emoScratch

Great White fish grabbers from Cabela's are the best value $50. Boga grips are the best but they start at $120 The Great Whites won't hold a fish much bigger than 20 pounds if he flops but will do OK if they are tired. Stay away from Rapalas and Berkelys.

I think the Great White's are the same as the now discontinued Cabalas brand. If so mine have held 50 and 63 lbs blues with numerous fish in the 25-35 lb range. You just have to make sure they are engaged.

Now after I buy the Rapalas you tell me this.....</p>

I have the Cabela's grabbers and yes they are exactly the same thing as the Great Whites. If the fish is green which mine are because I get them in fast and release them quickly to minimize stress, the Great Whites don't open but they twist open.

Thanks for the advice, I think I will try e-bay and ck see if anyone has a ,"boga grip", might get lucky, otherwise, I will go with the Great White fish grabbers from Cabela's. I can imagine trying to explain to my wife that I gave $120.00 plus, for something to hold a fish with. Maybe if I promise to get her one of those new med. heavy rods complete with a new bait caster to go with it, for Christmas. Naah! probably wouldn't work, just a thought: emoDoh
