I used to fish Bass TX's and had to deal with cheaters. There were two punks who were usually in the $$$ who I knew had to be cheating because they would run all over the lake rather stay in an area long enough to fish it properly. When they got away with beating me out of 1st place money with an undersized fish, that was the last straw. You folks that know me, Know that I am a very easy going guy. However that day, I pointed my finger in their faces and swore to them that they would never be able to bring in a Red Finned Basket Bass again when I was fishing. They fished Two TX's that I knew of so I started fishing the other one also. At Blast off, I just followed them....All Day. Never got out of their sight. I was extra cautious to stay clear of where they were fishing and never in front of them. If they stopped on a bank, I would fish out in open water about 100' away form them. They would run all over the lake just like before, but this time just trying to shake me, LOL. Wasn't gonna happen, I could out run them in my rig. They cursed me, tried to run into me and threatened me. Oh well! Fishing in deeper waters behind them would occasionally pay off with a good keeper fish. And Of course I wouild ask them if it was one of their's. I actually took some money from fish caught chasing them around one time. To me running around watching those two punks was much more fun than taking home a few bucks. They never ever won any money after I started watching them....Go Figure. They complained several times to the TX Official owners which only made it worse on them. That then gave me the right to explain their actions to all who wanted to hear. Well they quit fishing the two I fished and started cheating at Nickajack. Well guess what, I found out where and decided to start fishing the Nick dogfights also....SWEEEEEET!!!

That is the reason I do not fish Bass TX's. The low-life cheaters are in most every one of them. They are people you may never suspect. But I promise you this; If you cheat honest folks out of a chance to win because of your red finned bass, You will get yours one way or an other.

In case you are wondering what got me all fired up, it was this artical I found. Click on this and read. I hope you can get a Hoo-rah out of it also.

Thanks Liveliner! It took a lot of nerve to do what you did. Of course, I doubt that they learned anything. I guess folks don't realize how much people hate cheaters!

Cheaters need to read that article and do some serious thinking. They may fool some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but they can't fool all of the people ALL of the time.

Great article but unfortunatley that is what our society has been boiled down to. Name an industry and ill find you someone that has cheated in that industry. Baseball, (well all professional sports), school (not me, I never cheated)emoAngel , sales, etc. Heck, ive even been cheated in a "friendly " game of cards with "friends". There is no way around it anymore but that is no reason to accept it either.

Cheating also occurs in the not so obvious ways. Decieving and flat out lying to someone is the same as cheating to me. I've often wondered how many people will tell a differant lure, location or patterns that they are catching fish as not to give anything away. I would much rather someone tell me that its a secret, be vague or just smile than to give me bogus information. I've personaly witnessed the lying of lure being used and never felt the same about that person and honestly makes me wonder if what I am being told sometimes is true or not.

I realy wonder how often this happens. Has anyone else witnessed bogus information being give out before?

I have had people that cheated in tournaments tell me about it and actually brag about it. As a matter of fact one of them is a member of this forum but of course I will not mention any names. Lying and cheating is a way of life for some people and they even think it is funny. I have witnessed this all my life and in EVERY instance the people paid many times over for their thievery in one way or another. It may seem like they are getting away with something but it always comes back around.

This all happened years ago when I still loved to bas fish. I do not what ever happened to those two. If I saw them now, I would not even know them. They are probablly dead or in the pen now.

Something I really enjoyed as far as Bass tourneys go is that I fished a one big fish per person event out of the Hales Bar Marina every Sunday morning untill 1:00 Pm untill it got hot and then it was until Noon. That was the most fun and honest TX I ever fished. We most always had over Thirty boats even on bad weather days.. It was easier to keep the one fish alive on the hot Summer days and you could slow down and go that big bite without having to worry about the numbers. If that got started again you could count me in.

How about one of you TX organizers try a one per person event even if it is a night fishing event.

Well spoken LL, its a shame that people have to be that way, Just for a few dollars and bragging rights. Like you said, it will always come back to you one way or another.emoToast

i fished a club tx out of where my wife works and the guys that hosted it won every one of them till they got caught when it came time to weigh there fish in they would turn the scales where noone could see them they would always win within an ounce well we finally caught them doin it and people complained to the company about it and they shut the tx down which really sucked because i and everyone else really enjoyed fishin them we liked to stand around and talk to everyone as much it just goes to show everywhere someone does it

Good one LL,

I fished a crappie tournament in SC on Lake Wateree a few years back. I used to catch several huge crappie in one of my favorite coves on that lake and this day was no exception. Anybody that's ever heard of Wateree knows what a crappie fishery we have there. 2 1/2 to 3lbers are so common, they're hardly even talked about.

We were supposed to weigh in 10 fish and we caught around 70 or so, culling all our smaller fish. Every other person fishing that day in the tournament, that we talked to, said they weren't doing that well, in fact most said that they had been skunked.

Anyway, we head back to the weigh in, with what I estimated was 20 lbs of slab crappie and was sure we were in the money. While in the line I see a guy I know, (a real scumbag, used to have a horrible reputation for drugs and jail and all sorts of stupidity), knew his father well. He used to tell me all kinds of crazy stuff this guy was into. This cockaroach has got a 5 gallon bucket with no water in it, and crappie spilling out the top. Giant 3+ lbers!

Long story short, we weighed in over 21 lbs! Next to us, the nearest weight was like 15 or 16 lbs, and we woulda won it, then these pukes weigh in and wholly molly, wouldn't you know, 32 lbs!! The whole time people who have seen them in other tournaments are yellin' out, "Basket Pullers!" and "Cheaters, take a lie detector!"

Never did find out what happened with those two tire pullers, hopefully somethin' bad. lol! I mean it was only like $1500 for 1st, and I guess we were just happy to have made the top 10, much less 2nd, but dang a cheater. That same year, somebody stole 5 of my catfish baskets in this one cove. Wouldn't you know, I found out that sorry maggot lived right in front of where we used to set 'em out.
