What is the best thing to use to clean your live well ?

dawn dish detergent works and then you can recirculate it through the pumps after you scrub it down. Or you can go more expensive and buy stuff at the outdoor stores that say livewell cleaner.

Simple Green works well and is supposed to be safe for the environment.

+1 on baking soda. no harmful chemical traces left behind, kills the mold/mildew.

Ive always used dawn. I wipe out the crud with a wet rag the night before a tourney, put a few drops in each well, then pump in water while running the recirc pumps waiting to blast off. Pump it all out, repeat, and good to go.

Baking soda is good and safe after rinsing. Just be sure not to use bleach.

I have used bleach for years. And I pride myself in keeping fish alive. I fill my livewell to the point of the over flow drain. Add a small amount of bleach ( I bet I use a quarter of a cup for a 30 gal. livewell). I let all the recirc pumps run for about 5 minutes. I drain, refill and repeat with only clean water. As long as you dont use a ton of bleach and you rinse thoroughly, you wont have an issue and it cleans the heck out of the wells. Believe it or not, you can hold a lot of harmful bacteria in the pumps and hoses and a very small amount of bleach will kill it.
