I have a livewell that "hums" when switched on but no water comes in. No clogs, just wondering if anyone has had this problem, fixed it and would share the info. Thanks much.

Do you have 2 livewells? Could it be that you think you are turning one on when in fact you are turning the other on due to a switch being wired backwards? That's kinda the way mine works. Just a thought. Outside of that, is all tubing connected? emoScratch

Take boat out of the water.....I repeat, take it out of the water. Now that it is out of the water look at the pumps. There will be a lock switch that you can turn to open them up. Turn on the switch, is it spinning? If not your motor is bad. If it is the water is not getting to the pump. Hose may be kinked. I had one that the magnets had stuck and had to buy a new motor. They are not that much and easy to replace. I got mine at FishnFun. emoAngel Jmax

P.S. If you every try to take that motor off while in the water it looks like a whale blowing water. emoBang I learned that the hard way. emoDoh

Thanks guys for the 2 helpful tips. I do have 2 livewells and the one up front is the problem child and it's really difficult to reach the unit to do anything to it without removing the floor.

Your pump should be in the rear of the boat. Turn the switch on and place your hand on the pumps in the rear to determine which one is operating. When you find the pump cut the power and disassemble the unit. If it is humming one of three things have happened. 1. The impeller has spun off the shaft and you can re glue with epoxy or replace the unit. 2. The line is kinked and will not allow water to move forward. Remove line from pump and plug front orifice apply normal water pressure and clear and/or re- inflate the line. 3. The shaft in pump is broke and you will have to invest in a new cartridge or pump.

Good luck with your problem....

Carl, thanks much, actually the my problem is with the livewell in front and I believe if I remove the pedestal seat mount I can reach the unit.

Last weekend I put the boat in the water and all of a sudden water was rapidly filling the boat. I thought the plug must have fell out. After everyone being nice enough to let me pull ahead and get my boat out of the water, I noticed the aerator pump line thru the hull was broke. Never thought to check that. I will for now on.

I have had the same thing happen in several different boats over the years. I now carry a pvc screw on cap either 3/4" or 1" depending on the inlet size. It has saved me from losing a day fishing and/or getting a really wet boat. With most boats just unscrew the screen mounted at the inlet of the aerator and replace with the solid cap.
