Went out tonight by myself solo around 5PM. I took off toward the nuke plant and some main channel humps but due to all the traffic and me being in my tracker I couldnt seriously fish from trying not to drown. About 7PM I made it up to the slew up from skull island and fished the main channel boat docks in about 6 foot of water. I did really well htere and boated about 10 fish 2 being keepers.

I caught all of my fish on a green ( I forget which) dead ringer TX rig. However, I did catch one dink on a jig off rip rap.

The best part of the night-- and the real fishing report-- was talking to RRigsby who is fishing the "G" today and made it to tomorrow. I think he said he had around 17+ pounds going into tomorrow with the leader at 25 or so. I think he is in the top 10 so do your big bass rain dance for him tonight.

My only picture is from a camera phone (sorry MB I didnt even have my seats in the boat to take my own pic.)

Glad to hear that you figured out where to find them. Is there any grass back in the Skull Island area and were you fishing any of it Hooker?

Zunker. Yes, that was me. Seems I gave you a mini report. Ha.

As far as Skull Isl. I just went into it for a peek right around dark to see if there were any jumping. That was my first trip into it. I didnt notice much floating but I did see grass along the banks. I didnt fish any of it. Is it best to fish the actual island or the main banks, or all of the above?

Looking at the map just now I would expect that the best part of the area to fish would be the deep side of the island, the point that juts off the main channel side of the island and the deep point accross the slough from Skull island. I would also go out to the main channel and hit the points where the channel that comes out from the Skull island area meets up the the river channel as those areas might have lots of fish this time of year. I have only fished that area once but those are the areas that look best to me, close access to deep water.

Hey, Hooker, nice fish and good report..... after looking at the picture for some time, I finally realized the look on your face is the same as the bass you are holding..... Please, smile... FAemoGeezer emoUpsmile

Thank you for the tip. Im originally from Knoxville and more firmiliar with the Norris area. I have just started fishing the Chick this year. Next time out ill try those spots. After I talked to Zunker I did get to meet one of the Local TWRA guys. I needed to put my lights up a bit sooner than I expected. He was actually very nice guy but he couldnt put me on fish or didnt want to give up his spots.
