Any body catching any fish on a jig right now? Anyone on here love to jig fish? I want to practice some jig fishing this week on the Chick and will take any tips offered. Thanks!!

Hair jigs are working right now and will get better as we get into January. I like really light weight finesse hair jigs. I like a hair jig Less than 3/8 oz black and chartreuse with a blue sapphire chunk as a trailer. Strange combo but it works like many others, Especially in clear water.

ok...cool and thanks lafae7!! Is there any particular brand or maker you like best or recommend for your hair jigs? I have zero hair jigs!! lol!! and how do you feel about rubber skirted jigs this time of year?

I can't remember where I got my hair jigs. I bought a 100 of them about year ago and I'm still using them . They were custom made. Rubber skirted jigs work great too. They make some great finesse jigs nowadays. I just like the hair jig for the winter time because it's fished sooooo slow that the hair on the jigs oscillates with just the littlest of movements and I think it gets more bites.

Most of my hair jigs are custom made by friends. Seems like someone is always trying to make those things. I have one friend that collects deer and squirrel tails to make them out of, but I know a lot of people who stripe/white bass fish too.

JEWEL FINESSE JIG 5/16 oz PB&J COLOR WITH CINN BLK FLAKE DBL TAIL TRAILER 10-12 LB FLORO LINE.
DIRTY WATER 3/8oz BLK&BLU WITH BLUE TRAILER
THINK ABOUT HOW COLD IT IS FOR 60 SECONDS THEN MOVE IT 4 INCHS !

i dont know the first thing about hair jigs! I NEVER leave my flipping jigs at home. 3/8s chompers for me. just plain ol brown with a green pumpkin chunk. or a zoom UV speed craw. i have a few white hair jigs, never thrown them though.

I go to Fish Tales a lot... first place I thought of when I asked that question. I've just never used the hair jigs before. Also what about weight difference? I notice some people recommend 1/2 to 3/4 oz some say 3/8...I know water depth plays a big role in this and a slow fall presentation. What do you say? emoBang

I only use 3/4 and 1 oz jigs for fishing deep and fast in the summer. The light-weight slow moving jigs are what I would use right now amongst other lures. I'm going to nickajack tomorrow and plan on using a really light shaky head with a finesse worm. I will bring some hair jigs along to see if the hair jig bite is on. Also, take note that there is 'always' more than one way to skin a cat. There are guys on hear that'll catch fish on anything at anytime. Especially if your in the right place at the right time.
