Locking through

I've never been though the locks before. What do you do? Do you need bumpers when you tie up. any advice?

Bumpers wont hurt but not manitory

You need ropes to tie up. If you really like your boat you might want some bumpers though. The only scratches on my boat (rub rail) came from the chickamauga locks.

I thought that bumpers were real important. Several ropes too. Keep your eyes open. If there is much traffic with you, there can be some funny currents. I went through one time with the Southern Bell. It was OK, but the other times were easier. A tug can really put you into a long wait.

Bumpers work a lot better when you're going up river than they do going down river

If your locking threw by your self a stick with a hook on it helps. In the chickamauga dam the Tye up post is recessed and hard to get too with some strange currents going on! o bummpers are needed i dont like banging my stratos up lol
