Hey guys just found out this weekend that the farm I usually hunt will not be an option this season. Looking for a place preferably private land unless its public thats not crowded for me and my wife to kill a deer or two during November and possibly December if we don't get one by then. Would prefer a place within an hour from Dayton, TN. Appreciate any help or leads. Thanks!

Have you had any luck finding a public spot to hunt? I'm down in Soddy Daisy and I'm in the same boat as you. Hope it works out for you!

I don't have the maps but TWRA WMA and TVA have maps...PUBLIC land, free to hunt. There is a good stretch on the very back of Possum creek I know of but seriously, its a pretty good hike.

I was looking at a TVA map last night it had a lot of areas highlighted in purple, Im assuming those are areas that the public can hunt? Do you know if we have a TWRA officer or office around chattanooga that we can call to get more detailed information on this stuff? Reading the annual hunting guide just makes my head spin, you cant do this you cant do that unless you're here and only on this day if youre related to this person. I get too frustrated with trying to take it all in. I need someone to look at a map and say you can hunt here.

Check out Hamilton GIS mapping. You can look at anyone's property either personal or government type land. Its a pretty cool tool to use. Best I understand...UNLESS posted by TVA, its huntable.

Public land for me. Some TVA, but will be making backpacking trips into the Cherokees. Too far to dive in daily, so might as well spend the entire weekend in the woods.

I started looking at GIS Hamilton but don't really know which layers to look at. Would it be considered administrative land?
