Looking for a used Pick-up truck

I am looking for a used, higher mileage, lower priced truck for my son to use for work. Needs to be a safe, daily driver type truck with a clean title. Mileage is not that big an issue if it is reliable.

Is it mechanically solid? I can replace tires, brakes and stuff like that. I just don't want to buy something that lays down on him 6 hours from here. He has to drive it back to where he lives in NC.
