I'm looking for a doe only lease in middle tn to fill my freezer I go threw a lot of deer meat or maybe somewhere close that has a lot of doe not interested in the bucks can any one help. I live in Chattanooga.

if a lease deal doesn't work out for you can I suggest looking at public ground in Unit L. one of my customers has taken a bunch of does on public ground in mid tn. But, I know there are several wmas in mid tn that allow season-long doe harvest. if I hear anything I will let you know on a lease

I would love to turn someone loose just to kill does on my place when its necessary, but what are you gonna do when that #1 hit lister comes by. I would think I could go hit some unit L public stuff and come up with a doe pretty quick.

Used to do it all the time at percy priest, cedars of lebanon, center hill lake, etc. lots of public stuff if you dig for it.

That's why I cant imagine finding a doe only lease. The only people that would be looking for a huge doe reduction, are doing it for trophy reasons, and wont allow meat hunters access to their properties.

I just want the does for the meat I have a lease hear in hammilton co. just not a lot of activity this year. I have no problem following rules as far as letting bucks walk does taste better.

This is actually the first year me and my guys have eased up a little on does. We are seeing almost 2/1 ratio (bucks/does) this year. Both on camera and in-person. I dont think we have hurt the does, we just have let so many young bucks walk. One buddy saw 16 different bucks in one morning. Wouldnt believe it if he hadnt videoed it. Im never gonna allow someone to hunt and tell them they cant shoot a bui even if a 170" comes through. Thats just wrong!

Very interesting conversation. When I was a teenager I dreamed of killing a buck with a huge rack but never did. I got away from deer hunting for a long time until my kids wanted to go. Last year I was hunting with my 12 year old and found myself looking through the scope at the biggest buck I've ever seen. He was rut crazed and not paying the slightest bit of attention to anything but the does. An easy shot. I was tempted to pull the trigger, but my son said he wanted to try. He had the shakes so bad he couldn't hold the gun so the buck walked. Initially I wished I'd shot the deer, but later when I realized how truly excited my son was by having that chance I'm very glad I didn't do it. He did get one in the last 15 minutes of light on the last day of the season, and got another one this year. It may be strange to some, but I've lost any desire at all for antlers - it's like releasing the 10 lb bass but eating the 12 inch crappie. So there are some of us weird types who'd rather shoot the 170 inch buck with a camera and put a smaller doe in the freezer.

I have 2 daughters who have ate two deer that I turned into jerky and they are begging for more I have one roast left out of the four deer that I have shot this year. I would rather them eat deer jerky than have to buy it in a store its a lot cheeper and has a better taste. the other two were turnes into summer sausage and snack sticks at don's in hixson and its almost gone. just not enough to go around this year.

This is what I'd do. Get the TWRA list of WMAs plus other public hunting areas. If you're into bow only, the Flintville hatchery is real cool place.
TVA land near resevoirs are open to public hunting in many cases. I had a buddy that hunts in coffee co right near the interstate 24. all public land.

Unit L is 3 does per day
