I enjoy trout fishing a lot and would like to take my fiance. Me and my fam always take our yearly trips to Tellico trout fishing but i was wondering if there was somewhere closer to home to go and take her. If anybody knows anywhere close i would appreciate it. I live in walker co.

Hiwasse is a great place to go. They just stocked it agin, and there are LOTS of hungry 12" bows right now. I hear red worms are killing them.

Since you live in Walker County you shoudl give Johns Mountain a try. It has very easy access and a lot of trout just be prepared for some crowds from time to time. You can also fish Rock Creek at the top of Lookout Mountain.

you might want to try pocket creek off of 136 between lafayette and calhoun. you turn off of 136 in varnell i think. i think they stock it a couple times in the spring. im not sure tho.

you also might want to try the upper conosaga(sp) river like your going up to grassy mountain. never fished it but might be worth looking in to

I agree with Spur. The Hiwassee is awesome and it is a beautiful place to take your family. It has a 3 mile trophy section were you can only use artificial bait but the trout fishing in there can be awesome. Just beware of the water rising without warning. It can literally put you on the wrong side of the tracks.

Depending on your address, there are some trophy streams near Helen, and some just west of there not sure about the name but the GA website should be able to help.

Take her over to the north ga mtns. Check out Rock Creek (the trout hatchery is on this creek and very cool to see and learn about the species), Noontotlia, Cooper's creek. Do you fly or spin rod? I live in LaFayette(walker county)
