The DI model is a new model for 2012 but the Screen is the same as the 858c and 898c which have been out for a couple years and the DI has been proven in the 500 and 700 Series and one of the nice things is you get DI and 2D Sonar in one unit. If you vertical fish or are use to 2D readings you can split screen and learn the new technology side by side with what you are comfortable with. Proven Technology and Hardware so I see no reason it won't be a very reliable unit like Humminbird has become know for.
