Ok. I have been scouring Craigslist for about 3 weeks now and have found a few boats I liked and considered buying. They have all been sold before I get to see them. So I'm getting the word out just in case someone comes across a boat thats for sale and thinks of me :) My wife says my budget is around $2000...I say my budget is closer to $5000...in the end, something close to $3000 would be great. At first, i figured I wanted something that was nicer on inside and rougher engine so I can take it to get tuned and modified myself so I know who has done the work on the engine. Now i think i want something where the carpet and seats are kinda rough with a nice clean engine. That way I can take care of carpet and seats myself since that will be cheaper. What are your opinions on which way to go? I rather have a fiberglass boat so the ride isnt as rough, but I absolutely dont mind aluminum. I just figured if I had to chose glass or aluminum in same price range, I would choose glass. I really like those mid-late 80s Rangers. Champion, and Winner are pretty nice too. Saw some stratos I like also. But in the end, I like the look of the Rangers. Im not picky as to engine HP. Never owned a boat before so I doubt i will be running a 150hp wide open and going 70mph the first day. Being able to go that fast is a plus, but not necessary for me. My buddy has a 2013 Bass Tracker pro team 17 or something like that. It goes about 30-40mph and that seems like more than enough for me right now. And I really like the boat. Any help will be greatly appreciated. If you have any leads you can shoot me a PM or text me at (305)632-zero6nine4 anytime.

I know Bunch Marine has a Skeeter 90 SS with a yamaha 70 dual console for cheap Boat they say is in reall good condition I think $4295.00 bottom price for this boat I guess its almost a 17 foot boat not sure

No suggestions but consider who will be riding in it. If it's for you and one other person, it doesn't have to be massive. If kids will be in it, you may want something with tall walls so it's harder for them to fall out of. Of course, I have a tiny boat with a tiny motor that is very easy to fall out of. And I take the wife and kids in it any time I can. Hahaha

I got a 94 javelin a few years ago and it's been a great boat. If definatly look for a solid motor over carpet and seats. Mine only has a 90hp and will go about 45. Also look out for the electronics.

I plan in taking wife and baby girl when she gets old enough. Figured i can keep baby girl in the sunken part where the console is. Thanks for the advice guys.

Man the boat I just sold T Roy would have been perfect, knowing him he will have it up for sale in a month or two lol

I was talking to him about the boat. Are you talking about the 1985 Winner with a 150 intruder? I was going to go look at it but we never got in touch again.

I have an '89 Shadow with a Mariner Mag 2 150 I'm getting to depart with here soon. Shoot me a PM if interested. thanks.

I have a buddy with a Bayliner...fish & ski. Pretty sure $2000 will buy it. I know for sure, he has owned it for several years....and been in the water maybe twice. He is the 2nd owner...I do believe. Shoot me a PM if you want his number. The boat hasn't set out in the weather.

I am considering selling my bullet, if you want some details I will be glad to give you some, just call me or email. It is a little higher than your range, but thought I would offer. Little older boat with a newer motor.

I've got a 92 javelin I'll sell you in your price range. Pm me if interested. And I'll give you my number and answer any questions you might have.

I will be contacting a guy about a 1990 Ranger. Im hoping this goes smoothly because I really want it. Haha. (I feel like a kid on Christmas)!!!! But if something happens and I dont end up with the boat, then I will be back looking some more. I should have started this thread earlier.

I currently have a: 1992 – 361V Ranger 18’ Boat with 150 HP Mariner MAGNUM III 2-Stroke (Top speed 65 MPH) – (Garage Kept Great Condition)
Boat includes cover, jack plate, 788CI and 383CI Color Hummingbird fish finders with GPS mapping, and 565 black/white hummingbird fish finder, new carpet, 2 live wells with aerators, 3 bank-on-board charging system (with 3-batteries), hotfoot, hydraulic cable stirring system with power trim/tilt, 4-blade stainless steel propeller, 82 lbs /24 volts trolling motor, single axle customize ranger trailer with new axel and hubs. I am asking $8,500 for it... I know its above your budget.. but well worth the cost... if interested give me a call... 423-464-2100.

So that 1990 Ranger I was looking at has been sold. Back to the search I go. KuChucky, that is out of my price range and there is no way I will be able to sway my wife to allow me to spend that. Haha. But sounds like a great boat, good luck selling it.

We just got a 1988 Hydra_Sport with a 150 Xr4 in that will fit your budget. It is solid and checks out good mechanically but needs some love. Priced at $2995 and I can send some pics.
