Has anyone ever fished in lookout creek that flows through the nature center into the Tennessee River at Moccassin Bend?

Lot of grass in there.. never had much luck back in there but have heard others catching some solid bass back in there.. never been farther back the hwy 41 gets a little hard to navigate past there unless you are in a canoe, kayak, or jet boat

I do and have. Been awhile though. Very good Crappie in the spring spawn. As mentioned there are some very good grass flats just before you get to Cummings Hwy. Also, As you go under the RR bridge along the side of the Hwy there is a small opening to the left that opens up into a pretty large Donut shaped lake that averages about 4' deep with deep edges. That area holds some of the best Blue-gills and crappie fishing anywhere on the river in the spawn. If you want to go in there in the spring, take alone a small folding saw to remove some of the overhanging branches over the passage. If you have a shallow running boat you will not have any problems with the excepting that you must watch out for trees in the water if you run too close to the edge. Take your time and enjoy how pretty it is up in there.

That is a beautiful place to take a ride with wife or family. Very peacuful and an easy slow ride. There are some stumps when you leave the channel of the creek. Wife and I had a very nice ride through there last summer with a lunch.

have always wanted to fish this water, i have a canoe but no where to put in that i trust to leave my vehicle unattended. may have to get a friend to drop me off there someday.

No, but used to run it with my jet ski, jumping logs and such. Used to fish it near Rising Fawn when it was stocked with Trout.

I've fished it quite a few times in my bass boat (Lower end between river and HWY 41) and by kayak (parked under HWY 41 bridge and fished upstream past the nature center). I agree with one of the previous comments about crappie and bream - lots to be found there but I've never had much luck with bass. I will say this - from the river upstream to HWY 41 has to be the noisest place place i've ever fished! Between interstate noise and train traffic it is LOUD. I haven't kayaked it in about three years but back then parking under the 41 bridge was pretty popular with yakers and I never saw any vehicles damaged. I did see CPD patrols down at the parking areas a couple of times so it seemed pretty safe to me.

.... Also, fun fact - You can zoom in on the creek in Google Maps, choose street view and view the creek. It just so happens that a friend of mine borrowed my kayaks to take his two nephews yaking there a couple of years ago and they met a Google mapping team in canoes getting the street view shots. if you follow the street view far enough up stream you can see my buddy and the two boys.
