Lorance 522

I am in need of the reviews on the 520 and 522 I know that the 522 has an internal antenna.
Just wondering which will work better.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

520 is better in most bass rigs. I've had two and they are pretty good units. You can also get a 787c2 from humminbird for close to the same money and its a better unit.

If you are mounting the unit in the dash then you need a 520c, but if you are mounting it on a ram mount you can use either one. The 522 will not pick up the satellites if it is in the dash.

I have a 522 that I have had about a year and it has been a good unit so far, no problems. It is mounted on a ram mount, but like was mentioned above if dash mounted you need the 520 model, external antenna.

Hey coach, I would have the antenna mounted somewhere open to the sky, but out of the way, so know one steps on it or kicks it.

Mine is mounted on the very front of the deck, between the switches and trolling motor mount... out of the way. GPS seems to work well.

go with the 520. we'll mount the antenna back at the light. THAts how mine is and it has never failed me
