Went out last night about 6:30 and anchored off the point at Downey slough in about 40 ft. of water. ( on the left going in ) looking for big Cat's
We sat there for 45 minutes without a bite. I looked up just in time to see my new Fluger reel and Allstar rod going over the front side of my Pantoon boat. I tried for 45 minutes to fish it out but no luck.

RE: Lost Reel

OUCH .. that one hurts! Lost a good fish .. and a better rod and reel. Bummer!

Don't worry if someone on here hooks up with it I wouldn't be surprised to see you get it back!

I hate that you lost it. That's TERRIBLE!.

But if it makes you feel any better, I know where there is a near new Beretta A303 auto shotgun near Harrison Bay.................at least it WAS near new when it fell in................emoEnforce

First, where is Downey Slough. I might want to go fish there a while... with treble hooks on a dragline.
Second.... consider Driftmaster Rod Holders. http://www.driftmaster.com/index.html They're GREAT! I had a fish literally rip the rod holder base off my boat gunwale two weeks ago (I grabbed it while it was barely hanging on by one thread on a screw), but the rod never slipped in the rod holder. Never had a rod slip in one for any reason. I highly recommend them... and they don't even sponsor me. emoBigsmile (But maybe that'll change after this post.... they are pricey.)

FM, rsimms is right on the $$$!!! Those driftmaster rod holders are a must when using multiple rods for big cats, your pontoon should hold about 50 of thememoPoke .

your right, I'm will look into rod holders for the front of my boat. I have them in the back. One of the two rods I had in the back was a wal-Mart
$ 29.00 special for catfishing, unfortunately he grabbed one of my good bass outfits. Downey slough is about a mile up on the left from the dam.
It's right across the lake from that $ 8,000,000 stone house on the right

DHaun, what kind do you have? They were nice, if I remember correctly, you can take them off really easy when your bass fishing.

I went to the web site but didn't see any prices. Do they sell through retailers??

They don't have a big selection MB but I got my Driftmasters from Walmart. Bass Pro and Cabelas and by the way Sportsmans Warehouse I believe has them too. Driftmaster has dozens of sizes and styles and ones with different angles.
