COLUMBUS, OH - A random drawing will be held to select participants for a special controlled deer hunt at Lake Katharine State Nature Preserve in Jackson County.</p>
Lake Katharine State Nature Preserve encompasses more than 2,000 acres in southeast Ohio. The rich Appalachian forest is cut by deep ravines and a clear-water lake is surrounded by towering sandstone cliffs. High deer population numbers have begun to negatively impact the flora of the nature preserve. Reducing the deer herd is an effective tool used to help protect threatened plant communities.</p>
