Lake level has been holding within a few feet on full pool, up or down. Water temps are 69-71 throughout. Clarity is good most everywhere.
I was out 3 days this week on Carters and a day on Chickamauga. Great week to be on Carters Lake, I had some great people and enjoyed my week very much. We've caught good numbers of Stripers, Hybrids, and Spots this week. Saturday I worked a double shift, first out full day trip with GON member and full time Med student, William Rutland of Mercer College. William and I boated 23 Spots on a variety of baits, Scrounger, SB, JB, DS, and Shackey Heads all produced fish. William wanted to learn the lake better and learn some techniques that worked on Carters. He caught all but a few of our fish so I think we got that accomplished. Thanks again Will. My second trip was an evening/night trip. The guys primary reason/goal was to learn and set up their Humminbird 898 SI so we spent the first couple of hours idling and getting them comfortable with using and interpreting their SI unit. Once they were good with that and it got dark we went after the Stripers. That bite is still good although last night my guys had some tough luck only boating a couple of fish and missing at least 10. Also losing a big Striper after a long fight it straightened the treble hook on back of our jerkbait . Spro McStick still seems to be the best numbers bait at night for the Salt fish.
Last I wanted to mention Kelly and Michelle Nelson whom are also GON Members. Michelle booked a trip for here husband in celebration of their wedding anniversary. We had a great morning on Friday boating some big Stripers and a few big Spots as well. Thanks again Michelle and Kelly, you guys were a blast. BTW, Michelle boated the biggest Striper on a spinning rod with 8lb test line !!!
I have a few days left the last week of May and openings in June if you're interested !!!
