It's been a crazy week at Carters Lake. Overall I have not been impressed with the past 7 days LOL. We're in the Spring transition right now and with such crazy weather and water temps coming up and down the fish have just been on and off. When it's on obviously it's a lot of fun, but when it's off it's tough to get a bite on anything anywhere in the lake. Spotted Bass are some of the most stubborn creatures on the planet and they want to be deep, so with the water temps still hovering around 53 on the lower end it's keeping most fish out deep and in open water roaming with bait.

Today was a carbon copy of a tough day. I was with long time client Allen S. Allen and I caught two good fish including a pig near 5lbs I caught on a Spro McStick 110 clown color. We then fished another hour without a bite and hit a long flat where we boated 3 in 5 casts. We fished the rest of the day and boated 4 more fish LOL . It's just that way right now, and hopefully that will change soon.

Also pictured is Alan O and his friend Tim from Friday where we boated 17 spots and a walleye on jerkbaits, swimbaits, and Spotsticker Jigs. Also, Dr Ted Q from Lexington came down for his third multi-day trip since January and we slammed the big Spots on Saturday morning boating 4 Spots over 4lbs, after having a mediocre day on Thursday only catching around 14lbs. It's so up and down out there right now, don't let a slow day get in your head b/c we're all dealing with it.

Good luck on the water.

I want to invite everyone to come see me. I'll be at Academy Sports in Dalton with manager Judd Kennedy on April 21st from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Just look for my center console Skiff out front. I'll be answering questions one-on-one about sonar, SI/DI, choosing the right rod for spring fishing techniques, upcoming Spring to post spawn transitions, and more! Courtesy of St Croix, purchase any St Croix rod from Academy in Dalton on Sunday April 21st and come outside to my boat and receive a free St Criox hat or tee shirt. I also have 75 Sample Bags courtesy of Big Bite Baits and a few products from Spotsticker Bait company as well. Come by and hang out with me if you can.

How hard is it catch the walleyes right now? I'd love to fillet a good limit of eyes.

Justin unfortunately the Walleye are very hard to pattern until Fall. They make a false spawn run up river but the past few years have been very hard to pinpoint and we usually catch em by accident.
