Out everyday this week prior to today. It's been another great week of fishing on Carters Lake. Water temps have risen to 80 as of yesterday evening. Clarity is good. Level is basically full pool. Numbers is good. I'm averaging 20+ spots per trip some days 30+. I've been getting 2 or 3 big spots per day as well.
The bite has much improved over the past 2 weeks. Worms, jigs, flukes and small crankbaits are best baits for numbers. I'm also getting a few fish on bigger cranks and an occasional swimbait fish too. I also had a great topwater bite this week. Alan Stanley and I wacked the spots Thursday on a half day trip boating well over 20 spots in just 5hrs. Our biggest Spot on Thursday weighed 4.qtr. Also had the pleasure of fishing w/ BayoutBetty, her cousin, and Lifterpuller from GON on Tuesday for the free "Thank you GON" giveaway. We also had a great time with everyone on board landing their PB fish. BB w/ a Striper, Lifterpuller w/ a pig Spot, and BB's cuz w/ a 4lb Spot of his own.
As for the Stripers, well they are Stripers. I don't know a lot about them other than they move a lot and pull hard, and like to eat LOL. I've got a few hot stretch's I'm fishing w/ jerkbaits and gizzard shad, seems like I can get a few each day, I'm trying not to lean on em to hard any one trip. Monday was a great day for linesides, Rick and Angela Graham brought their niece along for a half-day of fishing and watched her boat a half dozen Hybrids and 1 nice Striper. Rick was busy catching Spots in front of the boat. His biggest spot weighed 4+ caught on weighted fluke.
Hope everyone is enjoying this heat !!! Good fishing.
I wanted to invite the GON crew to check out a new FREE site a friend of mine and I have been working on. The site is full of useful information and articles on Electronics/Sonar/Side Sonar Technology, Technique Specific Info on things like Drop Shots, Fish Head Spins, Worms, Rods, Line, etc, etc. We're just getting started with this but would love to have your feedback. BE SURE to check under all the titles as there's a lot of good stuff there to read, maybe even something you need help with !!! Feel free to sign up as a member and get a notice each time a new article is uploaded. It's free of course. Here's the site: www.biggeorgiaspots.com
