Lower Unit

I trying to remove the lower unit and it won't come off. All the bolts are removed and I've banged and yanked on the darn thing and nothing. Should I be doing some else? The motor is a 89' 70hp rude.

Hey Burger, I'm not sure on yours, but on mine you have to remove the bolt in the shift rod to. It should be on the front of the of the motor around the bottom of the powerhead.

Yep, its a biotch to get to also. But thats what is holding you up.

I'm tired of fooling with it... Looks like another trip to the shop.

burger, try a 10-12" long, 3/8" extension with a swivel to get to it. Its below the powerhead, probably about a 7/16" socket after the swivel. Its the shift rod, a good light and you will see it, follow it from the shift cable.

CHECK THE GEAR SHIFT ROD IN FRONT OF THE MOTOR.SHOULD HAVE A SMALL CLAMP TO LOOSIN
