I did some research before on this. HB owned a patent for "how" to mount a SI transducer. This seemed kind of strange to me and believe that there had to be more. I am sure that they were attempting to patent the entire or portions of the SI technology for a while. The transducer Patent might have helped them established some sort of legal precedence when or if their SI patent come through. In the mean Lowrance came through with their SI technology, well after the transducer issue or precedence and probably slightly before they might have filed their own patent on the SI technology. No doubt in my simple mind the HB had it first, but I am no legal eagle. I don’t think there is no much difference, but I think HB has the better deal by far concerning SI. I still prefer the Lowrance 2d as HB's seems too granular or pixilated. You get used to it but I agree it will be interesting to see the outcome...Little HB might have a decent case...
PS: Glad to see you up and running. Fell out of a truck at 18 a day after Thanksgiving and "woke up" Christmas week. I guess as I was rolling along the ground my head hit a telephone pole. Don't remember that much to this day, don't remember the therapy or anything. I do remember that day I woke up, the day I left and some subsequent days where I had to get waiver to enter the military because of possible optical nerve damage and stuff. Life is funny...
