First…mixing Gen2 units with Carbons or Lives is never a good idea. Carbons and Lives moved to a dual SONAR circuit which gets put in “legacy mode” (disabled) when a Gen 2 unit is detected on the network. This is not likely the source of any particular issue…just not good practice.</p><p class="yiv3454877081MsoNormal" style="caret-color: #1d2228; color: #1d2228"></p><p class="yiv3454877081MsoNormal" style="caret-color: #1d2228; color: #1d2228">Based on your description of your setup here is what I would do if it were me…:</p><p class="yiv3454877081MsoNormal" style="caret-color: #1d2228; color: #1d2228"></p><p class="yiv3454877081MsoListParagraph" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt 0.25in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: sans-serif; caret-color: #1d2228; color: #1d2228">1>Remove the Gen 2 and all 3D modules/transducers from the boat and sell them. Reason: given already on the Gen2….and there are better options for side and down on the Carbons (AI 3n1 or AI 2n1) than the 3D system. The 3D system matches perfectly with Gen3 units but with the release of AI transducers, the Carbons perform better with those transducers. Better image and less compression</p><p class="yiv3454877081MsoListParagraph" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt 0.25in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: sans-serif; caret-color: #1d2228; color: #1d2228">2>Install a single Ethernet cable from front Carbon to console Carbon – simplify your installation and it will work MUCH better and you will have all the functionality you will ever need.</p><p class="yiv3454877081MsoListParagraph" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt 0.25in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: sans-serif; caret-color: #1d2228; color: #1d2228">3>Turn off Network SONAR on both units….it is not ever neededon a bass boat….for ANY reason.</p><p class="yiv3454877081MsoListParagraph" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt 0.25in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: sans-serif; caret-color: #1d2228; color: #1d2228">4>Make sure you have a Point 1 antenna installed (near the REAR transducer) and both the front and console units are connected to it.</p><p class="yiv3454877081MsoListParagraph" style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt 0.25in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: sans-serif; caret-color: #1d2228; color: #1d2228">5>Sign up for our next SONAR Boot Camp (1/26) and it will help you understand exactly why I make these recommendations and increase your utilization of the tools you have.
