I really hope that someone here can help me. I have a used 520c that I have started putting onto the boat. Now my plan was to run the power to the fuse panel that I have under my console. just the same as I had for the unit it replaced (eagle fishID) and the unit I have upfront (eagle fishmark 320) this is where I have ran into problems. The power cord from the 520c I have pluged the red wire into a fuse (10amp 32volt I think is the fuse) and the black to the ground at the fuse panel and the white to nothing. Which looks to be the same as the guy who had it before me did. It will power up and seems to be fine. Now my problem is with the other power cable that runs the GPS. it has one black wire which i put to a ground on the fuse panel and two reds (they are spliced off the one that runs from the inline fuse box and both have ends on them for pluging into a fuse) No mater what fuse i plug them into they blow the fuse. even if i plug only one wire in it will still blow the fuse in that spot. right now I have them pluged into nothing and the unit will power up but if I try and plug them into a fuse it will either blow the fuse in the panel or the unit will not power up. once they blow the fuse it takes a few minutes then the unit itself will power up again just like they are not pluged into anything again. have i done something wrong?

what size fuse do i have to have for this cable? do both have to be pluged into a fuse? if you need pictures i will see if i can take some. thank you!!!

Ok i took some pictures.... pic 1 has the one wire with Red with inline 3amp fuse, black and white. white is not used. also has a cable with Orange, yellow, blue, etc and this is not used as i do not have a network. pic #2 has the cable with one red with inline 3amp fuse then split into two, one black and then one silver that is not covered. and Pic#3 has all the wires...

Dont know if Im missing something but here is my thoughts. These need 2 different power sources and yes it makes a difference. Why is there 2 split power supplies just for the antenna? 1 3amp fused power supply for antenna witha seperate ground than the head unit. Verify you have a good bround also. To check the antenna if you have 12v to the antenna and no GPS its likely bad. Also if this unit is wet inside it will repeatedly blow the fuse. You will damage it if you keep replacing the fuse and blowing it repeatedly. Hope this helps.

I was wondering the same thing on the split reds on the Antanna wire. Nothing I have seen shows that. So i am still not sure what to do with that. I understand that the unit and the Antanna both needs it's own power. I have a spot for them both in my fuse panel. one thing I was not doing that was pointed out to me is that the silver wire on the Antanna was not ground with the black. that i will do and maybe that will help.

I had the unit working with just that power pluged in and everything seem to be ok. it did not see the GPS (becasue is was not hooked up) but the unit powered up and the simulators all worked. But once i tried to hook up the anntanna power that is when it would blow the fuse. but only the fuse that the antanna was pluged into. The unit never blow a fuse and if i was to plug it back in i feel it would work again just fine. My problem as been this GPS Antanna power hook up. I might take off on of the splits and just hook up the one red to a 3amp fuse in the panel and then the black AND Silver to the ground.

I am also now considering just running two red and two black wires from my battery to these and bypass the fuse panel. will take more wire, and some time running the wires but may make a huge difference.
