LSS1 Installed with a transducer question

Well thanks to Johnny from DJ Marine Electronics I got and installed my LSS1 today! Everything works as advertised the only question I have is about the mounting of the transducer. I mounted mine on the bottom of my jack plate and its not real close to the bottom of the hull.. Will that affect its ability to look forward at all?? Its about a foot above the keel.. It will be in the water when I am riding but I just wonder if having it up that high will cause me to loose some forward abilities. I could change it and mount it at the back of the step I suppose but I kind of like not having to drill any holes in the hull.

Thanks I just wanted to be as sure as possible before I try it out.. It was really easy to install I have to say. The hardest part is running the power and ground wire all the back to the battery!
