The Landing Craft LST 325 that was mentioned in another thread, is now on the move just south of Huntsville and will be at Guntersville Dam this afternoon. It's heading for Chattanooga and will be open for the public. I hope I can see it at Nickajack Dam, might be 3 am but it would be worth it.

Track it's progress on http://aprs.fi/#!mt=roadmap&z=11&call=a%2FWW2LST&timerange=3600&tail=3600

It hasn't updated for a couple hours. It was moving all morning, I don't think it has stopped, it switched to a new tracking station and hasn't updated. Should be close to Guntersville.

Thanks. I want to escort it through the river canyon and get some pictures. Hope it's daylight before he gets here.

I went to do the tour on both Sat and Sun, the only days I had available. Line was from the ship, back to Market street. I just didn't have the patience to wait that long. For anyone that did, was it worth it?

For anyone that did not get to see the LST325, you really missed a piece of history. Was it worth it, it was worth every dollar that it cost. We went on Monday and the line was not too bad. If you saw the clip on ch 3, the guy coming down the walkway was my B-I-L ... Shovelbill, those pictures are great, tks.

Thanks for posting the great pic's, sir. Glad they had a good crowd. I know everyone that went aboard had a wonderful experience.

I sure wish I could have gone on board to see it but my knees just won't let me stand that long in line any more. Its amazing how we take things for granted and then when you can't do them anymore, you realize then how blessed we really are each and every day.

Great pictures!! I got a few of it going into Nickajack Lock, I couldn't hang around for it to come out. I'm glad they have preserved this and brought it to town. I've been reading about these ships and they are amazing. Carriers and Battleships get all the glory but these work horses had a very important part in the war.
