Got to rivermont this morning at seven. Got to say hello to choochoosnakeman on my way to the boat this morning. Surprised to only see a small amount of vehicles. I was really excited to get back on the river again but was concerned about the lack of current. Fished up shallow with a spook for about an hour and decided I had enough and headed to my deeper spots that usually produce something. Went to work with a tube and had a nice smallie hook up that was probably barely a keeper maybe a tad shorter. Being solo I took for granted about usually having a net man. Fumbled around trying to get the net off and it came unbuttoned right at the boat. The rest of the day was pretty much trash fish heaven for me. Managed one short spot on a 1 oz spinnerbait. Wound up catching 3 drum @ 12,15,18 pounds. Did a bit of running around but just couldn't put anything together. Had Mark Daniels jr and Jacob wheeler come by in their boats headed towards the dam. I thought that was pretty neat. Went back to my deep hole and hooked up with a big fish on a drop shot. Fought it for about 10-15 minutes and multiple laps around the boat, wound up being a 26lb catfish. What a fight. I decided I was gonna pack it in at 1, I didn't want momma getting mad at me. Got back to the ramp and the lot was absolutely full. I couldn't believe it. Today was a very nice day to be on the water and truly was one of the few days I could have fished all day. Water was clean, low and 58 ish degrees.
