met up with riverrat at the grasshopper ramp around 7am (glockjr decided to sleep in ) wasn't really expecting much today with the cold front pushing though but we ended up being very suprised emoTongue

it still didnt start of too good with fog so thick you could barely see the bluff across from the ramp with all of the tourneys launching off and running up and down the lake we decided to play it safe and

fish the bluffs across from the ramp till the fog burned off. ( we heard several other boats screaming up and down the river during this time as well emoScratch )

didnt catch but a couple of shorts there and when the fog lifted we went off scanning main lake docks for a mother load of crappie ............. didnt find any on any of the main lake docks emoScratch .

went on into sale creek ( didnt even want to try to fight the crowds further down river emoTongue ) and searched and searched and finally found a spot that had a large school of crappie on one side of an outcrop and a small

school of larger fish on the other . JACKPOT emoDance . we caught lots and lots of short fish , including a couple of trashy green fish, and 11 or 12 keepers from this spot ( i would have kept count but i stepped on and broke my crappie counter on a previous trip emoDoh ) we even had 4 or 5 doubles emoDance . went in search of some bigger fish only to come up empty and returned to the spot were we continued to put short fish after short fish in the boat. ended the day fishing a floating dock that even though the side imager didnt show much i just had a feeling about . i chose wisely emoBigsmile we ended up pulling 8 keepers over 11" off of that in about 20 minutes

before i HAD to get home

most fish came on a BG split tail in chartreuse glitter on a 7 count and 1/32 jig , bayou bugger BG shad was a close second RiverRat was also doing good on another color that was close to bayou bugger but i dont remember

what it was. fish where caught in anywhere from 12 to 25 fow but most all came from around 7-10 ft deep. water temp was 65 in grasshopper and 58 in the main river and 63-68 in sale creek.

we most likely had close to 100 fish in the boat with 20 solid keepers that went home with riverrat to restock his freezer . (i really need to get a new counter )

what a GREAT day on the water . emoDance
