Aren't we hightech emoThumbsup What are the primary uses for 4x4 Barrel Knot? Have you ever tried it for connecting a mono leader to a braid line? I often use mono leader on braid and I just wonder if I could use that rather than using a 2-way swivel? Ever tried?

rsimms That barrel knot that MB ties is an excellent knot for equal lines. However I do not trust it as well as the proven "Slim Beauty Knot" for joining braid to fluorocarbon/mono.

Thanks for that link Dhaun and MB.

That's the quickest blood knot I've ever seen tied. I tried it a few times the 'MB way', and a few times the 'old school way', and MB's way is three or four times as fast. I guess I'm not too old to learn new tricks after all. Thanks MB!

Got a question for you LL. I prefer the Slim Beauty over the Double-Uni for tying the tippet to the shock leader on my flyrod. I was always told to double the tippet before passing it through the figure eight in the shock leader. Do you find it necessary to double the braid before passing it through the mono/flouro figure eight? I've been told not to double the braid, but I'd like your opinion since this seems to be a favorite knot of yours.

The rule I use is that if the two lines are near the same diameter I go with single, Whereas if I am attaching 25lb Powerpro to 40lb Fluorocarbon I will double the PowerPro.

In another life, I was "Captain Video".

I use that knot to join 8-10 lb P-line mono to 20 lb braid. I have never had any problem with the knot. I also use it to join 50 yds or so of new line to old line to keep from having to fill the whole spool with new line.

Liveliner's "slim beauty" may be a "better" knot, I don't know. Liveliner really impressed me with his knowledge. I would certainly respect his opinion.

Wow! Thank you so much MB! I've put this in my videos to use for when I put on new braid and back it with mono. Thanks again for taking the time to do it!
