I know a lot of people hunt with a 3-9x40 but I was wondering if anyone hunts with a 4-12x40 or if that is too big to hunt deer with I know I'll probably not take a long shot but I do like to shoot at the range too

I would recommend getting a 50mm to help you see the deer in low light conditions. As far as the magnification, it's not too bad.

Well I'm looking online but am going to check out a vortex scope the viper 3.5-10x 50 mm. Heard good things from people and then started reading an older post on here so I figured this scope might be the best of both worlds I guess we'll see

Father in law bought one and after sighting it in, changed out his old scope on another rifle with the same thing.</p>
