Question on marine grease usage with grease gun.
I have an Evinrude and it recommends using OMC Triple Guard grease for lubrication.
At Walmart they sell Pennzoil premium plus marine grease.

Is there any big difference in either Marine Grease besides price?
Any response is appreciated.
Thanks,
jcv

See if your owners manual gives the NLGI certification for the Evinrude grease, which will help identify the correct density. Then look forthe base mixture info, (aluminum complex, polymer, etc). If you are using the grease on pivots and steering components you want it to be correct for the materials, load, and temperature range it was designed to operate in.

If the Pennzoil classifications are the same, it should be safe to use it.

Sometimes you have to buy at least one tube or tub to get these specifications as manufacturers seem to be reluctant to make them easily available.

Pennzoil is NLGI Grade 2.
OMC Triple guard no clue nor any website help.

Youmay have to get that info off a container of the Triple Guard. Maybe someone on here has some and will post it.

Would be great if a dealer responded.
This lubrication is just at the engine points for steering and at the prop shaft.

Jason (Marine Specialty) triple guard grease is totally waterproof will not wash out , the tube does not give a classification I will see if i can get a msds sheet on it maybe it has the info you need but i think any grease that is totally waterproof should work

I would appreciate any info you may find.
The Pennzoil is NLGI Grade #2 marine premium plus.
Just would like to know if triple guard is a different grade or better product.
Thanks for looking it up.
