getting ready to fix up pontoon boat and I was goin to replace plywood.so I could some of the local lumber yards and bout had a cow when they told me the price on that stuff.over 100 bucks a sheet.any body know any cheap place to get it.Or anybody got some advice on a cheap way out?????? any help would be great.....THANKS

Marine Plywood is not made for use like that it , it is made for ship building and still has to be protected from rot with fiberglass.
What is used on Pontoons and other aluminum boats for decks etc is Plain Old Pressure treated plywood, if you use anything else you will be redoing the floor in 6 months to a year even if you paint it!

You might want to try Advantech. Its made for subfloors, but has enough glue in it that it won't bend or warp. I've seen some sit in water for over a week and didn't swell or warp. Just a thought, might be worth looking into.

Dude stick with tried and true, all wood rots eventually. advantech yes its good stuff for house sub floor, but its thicker, but you do what ever makes you happy lol .. personally I wouldn't , plywood is structurally more sound

to keep the cost down not easy on the floor if you replace it with Marine Plywood.
i have seen people replace with aluminum 4x8 sheets the cost my be around the same
but you want have to replace it any more. (just a though)

Thanks for the comments and that is some good ideals.I have thought bout pressre treated plywood but I was scard that when It dried out it would do like my deck did.when I used 2x6 I left nail size gaps and a year later the gaps where bout half inch wide.and I heard that It would burn my carpet up.I have heard alot of people use it before but never heard the long term effects.ANY BODY OUT THERE HAS USED PRESSER TREATED PLY WOOD BEFORE ON PONTOON BOAT????I think that is my best bet for the money.just would like to make sure that i would not emoBang later.please if you know anybody who has tryed it let me know how it worked out for them..thank you so much!!!

Do a search for pressure treated pontoon , you will find that most are new boats have either Pressure treated 3/4 ply , or aluminum floors.
Yes the pressure treated will have some shrinkage when dry but will not be that much, all wood expands and contracts due to moisture, your going to be in and around water .. wood is going to get wet . Check with East Brainerd Lumber, they may have some that is fairly dry, they cover all their wood, I have bought pressure treated lumber there that was 80% dry.. Lowe's , and home depot stores theirs outside open in the rain, only brought in to put on the shelf.

Basically on a pontoon you have 3 choices treated or aluminum corrugated deck, you could try the Advantech mention above Ive had a piece sitting in the rain about 4x4 for several years still looks good, prob would be fine. for a pontoon. But I personally. would go with what the builders use, and that is Pressure treated or aluminum corrugated decking.

But Dont know where you could buy the Corrugated Alum decking, and I know the cost would be much higher than the Pressure treated Plywood.
Dont sweat it so much relax.

I have also restored a few boats and all I've ever used is pressure treated plywood. I also apply resin over the plywood on both sides. Make sure that it is as dry as you can get it. I've never had a problem.
