I have a 150 H P Mariner Mag.Problem I have is you can be driving along and it stops running just like you ran out of gas. When you start it back up it will just idle, you can press on hot foot and will not go above idle. Most of the time you can idle along and it will pick up and run fine.We have changed everything you would think that would cause this but no luck.I have had it to three different shops.Any one have any ideas or had this problem before?

had a friend of mine that had the same problem with his mercury efi and it turned out to be the computer. he bought a used one and that fixed the problem

I would try running it on a small remote tank with known good gas, fuel line and primer bulb. If you can run it OK on the remote tank, look for ethanol degradation in your boat's fuel lines. Don't know where you've had it, but the good folks up at Bunch Marine in Harriman should be able to get you going.

I drained the tank at the first sign of this problem.I have put nothing in it but GOOD GAS since. Thanks for the help.Keep the ideas coming.

have you tried running it with the cowling off when it does this ? if it runs fine with the cowl off then it could be a problem with electronics (ecu). not necessarily OVER heating BUT a bad component that only shows up when it gets warm enough. i have seen many ecu's do this in both cars and boats

ECU can be it. Depends on what year you have. Around 2002 mercury went to a motorola controller and they are a lot more durable than the 2001-back ECU. How often does it do it? Each trip? I have a 225 ECU that you could use for testing. It will run rich but will probably help you figure it out. Just my .02
