FISHED TRI STATE SAT STARTED TO BACK UP AND HAD NO REVERSE FORWARD WORKS FINE TRIED TO MOVE SHIFTER TO DIFFERENT POSITIONS AND COULD HEAR IT TRYING TO GO INTO GEAR BUT WOULD NOT THIS IS A EVENRUDE 3.3 225 YEAR IS 2002 EVERYTHING WORKED FINE NEW YEARS EVE ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANKS emoScratch

My 250XS does that when its cold. Probably just needs a little adjustment

The mercury uses a different shift mechanism. If you shift slow and not quick the clutch dog and lugs may be worn. This is unusual to hear on reverse. It is normally forward. More than likely a cable/ shifter issue. But this may have caused the lugs to wear. They can be welded and cut cheaper than a gear set. If that is the case. Make sure to adjust with the lower down. If you have it up you will hear a clicking noise (normal) and may mistake a bad adjsutment from it. Just my 2 cents. Later.

That is a box of parts not the TRASH!LOL!!! Well it is a box of OMC 75Hp parts with the mercury stuff thrown in on top!!!!

Found why it wouln't shift in to reverse. The carrier is broken allowing the reverse gear to run away from the clutch dog. These bolts are suppose to be straight up and down.

Thanks!!! I try!!!! LOL!! You working hard or hardly working???? Get In line!!!!!!!! I am covered up. I don't know which way is up. I have a couple of mercurys V-6's to modify, 3 lowers going on, 1 water pump build, people calling to schedule work. I need to quit my day job and go full time into this stuff! Would if my wife worked. I already have 95% of the tools. Just need more time in the day! Now I remember why I have been working on my race boat for 2 years, I don't get to work on my stuff!!!! UPDATE: Ordered parts today. Will be monday before I get them. Will have everything cleaned and ready. Will shoot for wednsday or thursday. Then will come over and put on and adjust. Later!

Got lower together. Pressure tested @15psi for 5 minutes. No loss. Vacuum tested @15 inches for 5 minutes. no loss. On the prop shaft where the seal ride, it had some light grooving. What I did is installed the 2 seals and sunk them in 1/4 deeper and installed a 3rd prop shaft seal. These seals are now "rididng" on a new surface and will seal good. I filled it with 75-90 synthetic fluid and is ready to go on. If you don't get this tonight I will call you in the AM and let you come get it and paint it. Then we will installed tomorrow afternoon.
