Neighbor Hal and I went out about 4 pm at the RiverPark. We drifted grubs for an hour or so. Hal caught a 4-5 lb drum and I caught a couple of redeye. We decide to attack my pet spots on the riprap. We caught 25 bass total, of which 20 were spots 3 SM less than 12" and 2 LM less than 12". We caught several large bream also. Most came on a white SB with some on a TN Shad 200 Bandit. We brought 10 home for the table. Yum-Yum!

We quit at 6:45 so I would have enough light to clean fish. I need to install a light over my fish cleaning station which is a hose reel with a nylon cutting board attached to the top.

Nothing picture worthy.

YEAH SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED TO SHED A LITTLE LIGHT ON THE SUBJECT SINCE THE DAYS WILL BE GETTIN SHORTER.

MB I have never fished out of a boat on the river. Are you guys drifting with the current and casting downstream, or fishing against it and casting upstream? I have always fished the lake and if I have fished the river it has been from the bank.

Just wonderingemoScratch Did you make Hal clean up the boat before you all went to the river???? FA wants to know.....emoQuestion

I drift with the current and prefer to cast downstream. There's no great mystery there. I have a 42 lb thrust TM and it is difficult to pull against the current. So, since hangups are common, it is easier to get to your lure if you drift to it. I use SB's & CB's alot, I don't like to lose them. Jigs & grubs are not so expensive but I will try sometimes to get them back if I can.

MB makes a good point about going against the current. I have an 80lb trolling motor on my little 17 foot boat and it is wonderful. To truely fish structure (trees, barge ties ups, etc) you need a good trolling motor to hold in the current. We typically drift down stream past the structure fishing as we go, then troll back up stream and fish it again. This way you cover both sides of the structure and we catch as many going coming as we do going.

Thanks for the info folks. I think we are gonna try and hit the river sometime next week. Any suggestions on where to start if we put in at the Riverpark? We are hoping that the current will really be running with them drawing down for the fall, although Jmax says they have already dropped about 3 feet on the Chick.
