Do we need to set a rule for mean mouth or any other fish that is in dispute? I brought that bass in saturday bc it wasnt an obvious 100% smallmouth and had a tooth patch. And i know that no matter what happens some people are going to complain about something. Just wondering if we want to put a set in stone rule about disputing fish. Or just leave it up to a vote of the tournament committee.

No biggie it is always nice to see children smile IV always gone by if it's green it's a spot. If it's brown smallmouth

Don't worry about it. It is in the rules. The most important one is that the tournament committee will make the determination.

** BASS SPECIES

* 12" Spotted bass - 15" Largemouth - 18" Smallmouth (The only exception is Guntersville Lake, where limit for smallmouth bass is 15"

* Brown is Brown. There are some smallmouth that contain a tooth patch, but a brown fish is a smallmouth

* A spot qualifies as being green, and has a tooth patch.

* A fish in question will be voted on at the weigh-in by CFF Tournament Committee members. The decision of the CFF Committee members will be final.

Ok. I wasnt trying to start a fuss or fight saturday. I caught the fish and at first called it a smallmouth myself. Measured it & it was just a little over 17". I almost just took a picture and let it go. But then i examined it better and noticed the tooth patch and that it wasnt as brown as a smallmouth should be. Thats why when i got to the ramp i went to Earls suv and told him about the fish and then also said something about it when i took it out of the bag.

I just froze the thread...hell we had some guy who don't even fish with us making some stupid ass comment when I froze it...

I don't give a damn what anyone of them say! I was my call and I made the decision and I said it was a spot! So if anyone wants to get pissed at me so be it. They can blame me and nobody else if they disagree with the decision. When one of them does a weigh in sometime then they can make the decisions. It's kind of like an umpire. Sometimes they are right and sometimes they are wrong but not everyone agrees either way! And you may not believe this but I've had people pissed at me before!

Lol. Earl im with you. No matter what we do at tournaments theres going to be someone that complains about something. I dont care if they are mad at me for bringing the fish in or for the comment. Im out there to have fun and enjoy the time fishing with my kids. Its not the first time someone is pissed at me and it definitely womt be the last

here is a old photo of what I caught was a meanmouth, it was brown but had a lateral line like a spot. I didnt check the tooth patch but i thought it was a meanmouth as well,

The number one thing the committee can do is stand united. We followed the rules, made the decision, and that is it.
