I have been getting asked about these type of items. I think some of it is coming from the ads that some of the bigger companies are doing on TV right now. Most medical alerts are just a monitoring device like an alarm panel with a keyfob unit for the peson of concern. Yes....we do that. I have had several elderly people get a medical alert and have it set up to either call the Police, medical assistence or their relatives to go check on them. It allows someone that may be getting on up there or have some kind of restriction to live on their own with the ablility to contact help if needed in case of an emergency. If a person has an alarm you can add this device to it so don't let someone sell you a whole new system. emoTskTsk They are using you to buy themselves Christmas. emoDoh
Break-ins are on a all time high right now. It is the time of "Giving" and the a-holes that are around are looking at it as a time of taking. Lots of cons out there also. Around Hamiltons Place Maul there is a ton of people trying to con folks for money. I had a guy and his son hit me up two days ago at Wal-Mart for money to help them with a tire that had gone flat, they said they needed to get home and were short. He said his car was over at FireStone and he was $11.00 bucks short for them to do the work. emoScratch I told him "No" but then called Firestone to see if it was true. Firestone knew nothing about it. No one there had even talked to someone about that. emoAngry If it had been true I would have caught back up with him and helped him out. Just another con in action. There is one older black man that usually stands on one of the corners around there with a sign. He has stoud around there for the last five years and every year he changes his looks and has a different sign with some different reason he is in need for some help. It is ashame that you cannot tell who is on the level and who is not.
I had another young guy ask me for some money for food. I asked him was it really for food or for cigs or something else. He assured me he was hungry. emoAngel I walked him over to Quizno's and bought him a meal. He seemed very thankful and ate it all. I think the kid was truely hungry. Said him and a friend had come up from Florida looking for work, not found anything and had run out of money. emoRolleyes I wished him the best after he had eaten.
Be careful and aware but don't forget there is truely people in need out there that we can help with very little hardship to ourselves.
Stay safe and have a "MERRY CHRISTMAS!"
